Student Admissions

PleasanTech Academy Charter school is a public school open to all students on a space available basis and operates independently of the District Board of Education. Under a charter granted by the Commissioner, the school is managed by a Board of Trustees deemed to be public agents authorized by the State Board of Education to supervise and control the school. A charter school shall be a corporate body with all political powers necessary or desirable for carrying out its charter program. PleasanTech Academy Charter School holds an annual lottery for student enrollment. The purpose of the enrollment lottery is to produce a waiting list for the upcoming or current school year. It does not guarantee your child a spot in the school, it only provides you with a number on the waiting list, and a general idea if your child will be admitted in any given school year.

It is required by the New Jersey Department of Education that we maintain a waiting list, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A-11-45. Although we may not have space available for your child now, there may be an opening at a later date in the school year.

Student enrollment availability occurs when other students transfer. The school has a maximum enrollment limit of 570 students, with small class sizes a maximum of 17 students in each class in grades K-3 and a maxium of 18 students in each class for grades 4-8.

We accept students from all surrounding areas. However, Pleasantville residents receive first preference. Proof of residency is required.

Our charter is required by law to follow the following enrollment priority:

• Siblings: Brothers and Sisters of Current PleasanTech Academy Students
• Pleasantville: Proof of Residency Required
• Surrounding Areas: Absecon, A.C., E.H.C, E.H.T, Galloway, Somers Point, etc.
